Cougars look to extend winning streak Friday back in Bohler Gym


PULLMAN, Wash. — Washington State volleyball (13-6, 5-3 Pac-12)  gets set to begin a four-match home stand to close the month of October as it welcomes Arizona (12-7, 2-6 Pac-12) into Bohler Gym Friday night.  Friday’s match will be televised live on Pac-12 Arizona with first serve scheduled for 7:04 p.m. (PST).

The Cougars are coming off of their eighth sweep of the season after a 3-0 win over Utah on the road on Sunday and has won the last two over Arizona and three of the last four in the all-time series.  A win on Friday against Arizona would be the 200th win at WSU for Head Coach Jen Greeny as the Cougs look to extend a 10-match home winning streak which dates back to last season.

>> Washington State is a perfect 5-0 at home in Bohler Gym this season where they have outhit opponents .308 (248-73-569) to .155 (200-112-569).  WSU has won 10 straight at home dating back to last season.

>> The Cougars are averaging 2.68 blocks/set and 2.05 aces/set through their first five home matches.  WSU won its second five-set match of the season while notching its first top-25 win of the season in a 3-2 win over 12th-ranked Oregon back on Oct. 7.

>> Washington State is 8-3 against Arizona since 2016, winning three of the last four matchups. WSU has won both matchups over the Wildcats last season without dropping a single set.

>> The Cougars have won three of the last four matchups in Pullman against Arizona with a sweep over the Wildcats last November in Bohler Gym.

>> With a win, Head Coach Jen Greeny will become only the second head coach in program history to reach 200 career wins for WSU.  Greeny will join her own coach from her playing days, Cindy Fredrick, who holds the program record for wins as a head coach at 278.
