PULLMAN, Wash. — Reigning Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week Pia Timmer finished with a match-high 16 kills as 25th-ranked Washington State volleyball (20-8, 12-5 Pac-12) swept Utah (15-13, 8-9 Pac-12), 25-20, 25-12, 25-18, Friday night in Bohler Gym.
Washington State has now won 20 or more matches in four of the last five seasons and the Cougars improve to 9-1 on the season in Bohler Gym where they have won 14 of 15 dating back to last season.
“We’ve had a saying all year about winning one in a row. We weren’t going to look past Utah and we aren’t going to look past Colorado (on Sunday),” said Associate Head Coach Burdette Greeny. “Being at home is huge after being on the road for six of the first eight weeks.”
Weronika Wojdyla, who has shifted from outside hitter to middle blocker for the Cougs after early season injuries, had one of her best matches of the year with 5 kills on seven swings and zero errors (.714) against Utah. Argentina Ung dished out 42 assists and three blocks on the night as the Cougar offense got better as the match progressed and had spurts of dominance in front of a strong Friday night crowd.
