Cream and Crimson Scrimmage Offers First Glance at 2022 Indiana Volleyball Team

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The 48th season of Indiana Volleyball will commence Saturday afternoon when the Hoosiers end fall camp with the annual Cream and Crimson Scrimmage.

Saturday’s proceedings will offer the first glimpse at the 2022 Indiana Volleyball team with a split-squad scrimmage inside Wilkinson Hall at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.

The Hoosiers return 14 players from last season’s roster and welcome the addition of talented freshman Candela Alonso-Corcelles (Madrid, Spain) and Melisa Ilter (Bursa, Turkey) to the 2022 squad.

Senior libero Paula Cerame, sophomore outside hitter Mady Saris and senior middle blocker Kaley Rammelsberg are among the returning starters from a season ago.

IU enters the 2022 campaign in the fifth year of the Steve Aird era, but just the fourth-full season following the COVID-19 shortened 2020-2021 season.

Saturday’s scrimmage will be a welcomed way to introduce the fanbase to this season’s roster of athletes. The team will greet fans upon their arrival to Wilkinson Hall and will be available to interact with fans following the conclusion of the match.

Free team posters and stickers will also be available to the crowd. Admission is free to the public with doors slated to open at 3:15 PM.

The 2022 regular season will officially open on August 26th and 27th with IU hosting the Indiana Invitational. The opening weekend will see IU play Indiana State, Chicago State and Jacksonville State in a four-team tournament inside Wilkinson Hall.

IU will play Indiana State in the second match on Friday, August 26th at 7:00 p.m. to kick off the regular season.
