No. 9 Creighton picked up a crucial 3-1 win over No. 6 Purdue at the Jayhawk Classic, marking its first top 10 victory of the season. The Bluejays started strong, taking the first set 25-21 behind a balanced offensive effort. Norah Sis, who briefly left the court with a bloody nose, returned to help seal the set with a key kill. Creighton’s offense found its rhythm early, setting the tone for a back-and-forth match.

Purdue responded in the second set, using its nationally-ranked defense to slow Creighton’s attack. The Boilermakers capitalized on multiple blocks and closed the set with a 10-3 run to win 25-17, tying the match at one set apiece.

However, Creighton regained control in the third set. A critical serving run from junior Ava Martin helped the Bluejays jump ahead, and they never looked back, winning the set 25-16. Kendra Wait orchestrated the offense with precision, allowing multiple hitters to contribute during key stretches.

The fourth set proved to be the tightest, with both teams trading leads late. Purdue fought hard, even taking a 21-20 lead after a successful challenge. But Creighton stayed composed, and a kill from Martin set up the match point before Wait and Kiara Reinhardt combined for a match-winning block.

With the win, Creighton improved to 8-2 and earned its second top-25 victory this season. They now turn their attention to another top-10 showdown against No. 10 Kansas to wrap up non-conference play.
