BOULDER – The Colorado Women’s Volleyball team (10-7, 2-4 Pac-12) will head to the Pacific Northwest this weekend, as they take on Washington (11-6, 2-4 Pac-12) and No. 4 ranked Washington State (15-2, 5-1 Pac-12). The Buffs will play the Huskies Friday night at 8 p.m. MT and the Cougars on Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. MT.
Colorado enters the week after splitting two matches at home against No.5 Oregon and Oregon State. They fell to Oregon in three sets and went the distance against Oregon State, ultimately pulling out a five-set victory for their second conference win thus far.
Lexi Hadrych posted the only double-digit kill performance in the Buffs’ win, with 18 kills for a .412 hitting percentage. Skyy Howard cleaned things up on the defensive end with 6.5 total blocks along with eight kills.
CU currently sits at eighth in the Pac-12 standings, with a chance to move up a spot with a win over Washington this weekend, who also has a 2-4 conference record.
OPPONENT OVERVIEW
Washington
The Huskies sit at five games over .500 with an 11-6 record, but have just won two of their first six conference games so far. They are 4-1 at home on the young season, dropping their only home match to No.3 Stanford this last Friday.
Colorado doesn’t have the best of luck against Washington, having won just six of the 25 matches played between the two. CU did win their last matchup, sweeping the Huskies in Seattle for the program’s first victory ever at UW.
Washington State
The Cougars are scorching hot to start the year and have a 15-2 record. They are currently ranked fourth in the nation and were riding a 14-match winning streak until the Stanford Cardinal ended the fun this last Sunday. They have four wins against teams inside the top-20, while their two losses have come at the hands of two top-5 ranked teams, Louisville and Stanford.
The Buffs have often played WSU much closer than Washington, as the Cougars hold a 12-11 overall advantage. CU has a winning record at home against the Cougs at 7-3 but are 3-9 when traveling to Pullman. The two teams each captured a home win last season in the series.
