Curkendall Collects 15 Helpers for Soaring Eagles on Saturday

ELMIRA, N.Y. – The Soaring Eagles began the second half of their quad-match weekend with two more losses at the hands of Alfred State and Smith College. Senior Asia Curkendall ’25 paced the Soaring Eagles with 15 assists in the double-header. Senior Morgan Richardson ’25 led the way for Elmira with 11 total kills.

HOW IT HAPPENED (ELMIRA vs. ALFRED STATE):

  • Racquel Gerstenberger and Alayna Tomlinson each notched nine kills in the first match for Alfred State. Nayomie Ferrer chipped in with 27 assists, setting up Gerstenberger and Tomlinson plenty of times en route to the Pioneers’ first win. 
  • On the Elmira side, Richardson’s eight kills led the team. Curkendall also registered a kill in the match for EC. Madi Conti ’28 and Makenna Clark ’25 compiled four and two kills, respectively. Clark’s four service aces tied a season-high set in the Soaring Eagles’ first match last night. 
  • Gabriela Rodriguez ’28 was strong on the defensive, digging out 10 attacks from the Pioneers.
