GREENWOOD, Ind. – No. 13 Georgia Tech volleyball’s Bella D’Amico and Erin Moss have each been selected to the 2022 College Sports Communicators All-District Team for the East Coast Region, the CSC announced on Tuesday. The dynamic duo at the core of Tech’s 2022 unit is recognized for a combination of their academic excellence and on-court performance.
In receiving the honor, D’Amico and Moss become the first Yellow Jackets to earn the accomplishment since 2016 (Teegan Van Gunst). Paired together, the two become the first Yellow Jacket duo to be selected since 2004 (Jayme Gergen/Lauren Sauer) and third in program history including 2003 (Kele Eveland/Lauren Sauer). Individually, D’Amico and Moss are receiving their first career awards from the CSC.
Each student-athlete named to a region’s 2022 CSC All-District Team has maintained a career GPA of 3.5 or higher as well as on-court status as a starter or important reserve. The seamless pairing exceeded both benchmarks, each owning top 10 numbers across the conference and helping propel the White and Gold to another stellar season.
D’Amico has orchestrated one of the top offenses in the conference this season as Tech currently ranks second in the ACC in both assists per set (12.74) and kills per set (13.69). Individually, the junior setter owns 10.01 kills per set, good for fourth in the league this year, as well as 891 assists, which place her fifth in the conference on the season. On top of pulling the strings offensively, D’Amico has tallied five double doubles this year as she’s pitched in defensively with 163 digs and 31 blocks. In specific outings, the Westerville, Ohio, native also leads the ACC in three-set matches with 45 assists in a sweep of Notre Dame and owns the third spot with her 41 against Syracuse resulting in the same outcome. D’Amico has piled up a career-high 49 assists twice in 3-1 wins over NC State and North Carolina, tying for the third-most assists in a four-set match in the league this season in both.
Moss has provided a dynamic presence in the middle on both sides of the net, leading the squad with 89 blocks (18 solo, 71 assisted) at a rate of a block per set while ranking second on the team with 187 kills. Offensively, Moss has balanced her explosiveness with efficiency as she’s also second for The Jackets with a .334 hitting percentage. Across the ACC, that mark stands eighth overall to date.
