COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.— The USA Volleyball Beach Collegiate National Team announced that Lewis men’s volleyball head coach Dan Friend will serve as the head coach of the men’s team.
The team will train June 11-17 at the Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center in California.
This will be Friend’s second time working with the USA Volleyball Beach Collegiate National Team as he was an assistant coach for the team last season. Friend has also worked in various other coaching roles for USA Volleyball including head coaching positions for the Men’s Junior National Team (2014 & 2015) and the Boy’s Youth National Team (2012). He also has been an Assistant Coach for multiple USA Volleyball Teams across different levels.
“It is always an honor to represent and work with our USA volleyball pipeline,” Friend said. “I am excited to be back in the sand this summer and work with a great group of young men.”
After the team training, a maximum of four athletes could be selected from the group for the U23 Beach National Team where the two pairs will compete in the 2023 NORCECA U23 Beach Tour Championships in Grand Cayman on July 7-9.
