Deacons Show Balanced Play in Sunday Sweep Over Virginia

Virginia Tech

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Looking to bounce back from a Friday defeat, Wake Forest volleyball (13-10, 5-7) gained contributions from across the board throughout Sunday afternoon in a 3-0 sweep over Virginia (11-12, 3-9).

Five Demon Deacons ended with six or more kills, led by Ashley Slater’s 10. The team’s collective .358 attacking percentage was its second-best clip of 2022. Additionally, Wake Forest’s 11 service aces tied for the most delivered this season.

Peyton Suess had her most efficient hitting performance of the fall, going 7-of-13 on attacks while committing zero errors (.538).

Andrea Fuentes put together a well-rounded showing of 15 assists, seven digs, and a career-high five service aces. That same mark in aces is the most by a Deac in a single match this season.

Rian Baker and Emma Farrell added 15 assists and seven digs, respectively. Emmy Ogogor completed six of her 10 attacking attempts, suffering only one error (.500).

Wake Forest has now won its last five meetings against the Cavaliers.
