December Student-Athletes of the Month Announced


TUCSON, Ariz. – The student-athletes for the month of December 2023 have been announced by C.A.T.S. Academics and the honorees include Maki Bispham (Beach Volleyball), Devyn Netz (Softball), Sam Sommerhauser (Men’s Golf) and Jai-Ayviauynn Celestine (Football).
 
Athlete: Maki Bispham
Year: Senior
Sport: Beach Volleyball
Hometown: Montreal, Quebec
Maki has been a leader on the team and in the classroom her entire time she’s been a Wildcat. Across the nation, whether at conferences or leading the beach volleyball team, she has represented the University of Arizona with hard work, determination and dedication to being better than she was the day before and helping others. She impresses us all every day with the amount she is able to balance and exceedes everybody’s expectations! – Academic Advisor Jordon Smith

Year: Senior
Sport: Softball
Hometown: Palatine, Ill.
“Devyn is one of the most dedicated student-athletes to her academics and to her sport, Softball. She is always asking questions, consistently in communication, and is always on top of her responsibilities. As a physiology major with two added minors, she continually has one of the highest GPAs on the team with a heavy course-load and does it all with a smile on her face! – Academic Advisor Jordon Smith

Year: Senior
Sport: Men’s Golf
Hometown: Rocklin, Calif.
Sam Sommerhauser, Men’s Golf, is a Senior Marketing major and has excelled academically over his entire academic career. He has maintained one of the highest GPA’s on the team and finds success in both the classroom and the golf course by working hard and staying organized.” – Academic advisor Jennifer Mewes

Sport: Football
Hometown: Miami, Florida
“Jai-Ayviauynn arrived on campus January 2022 and is currently a Junior. He has always put care and effort into his studies, but this semester he took his academic independence and commitment to a new level. He showed resilience and dedication as he navigated through a particularly demanding schedule, spending extra time and resources to achieve his goal GPA. – Academic advisor Kelly Amsler
