Dodson, Luper Awarded AVCA All-Region Honorable Mention

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Middle blocker Anna Dodson and Charitie Luper raked in AVCA Pacific South All-Region Honorable Mention accolades, it was announced Tuesday morning.

This marks the first time Dodson and Luper have received AVCA honors in their respective careers. The honors come after Dodson was named to the 2022 All-Pac-12 Team and Luper All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention last week.

This year, Anna Dodson was UCLA’s most efficient attacker, averaging 2.54 kills per set in 102 sets played (256 kills) with a team-high .330 hitting percentage. She ranked 13th amongst Pac-12 players in hitting percentage this season.

Dodson entered the season with seven double-digit kill outings in her career and nearly doubled that production with 13 in 2022. She went on a stretch in Pac-12 play from Oct. 16 through Nov. 12 with seven consecutive matches of at least 10 kills, hitting .330 in five of those contests.

Dodson set a new career-high in kills with 15 at .478 versus Arizona on Nov. 4. With her five blocks in that match, she came just .5 point short of the 20-point mark.

Ever versatile, Dodson recorded the first double-double of her career at Colorado on Oct. 28 with 11 kills and 11 digs.

Luper averaged a team-best 3.28 kills per set in her 21 matches played in 2022. In her first action of the season, Luper helped lead the Bruins to a comeback victory over Hawai’i on Sept. 4 with 17 kills at .455 and three blocks. She set a career-high in kills at Arizona on Oct. 9 with 25 at an astonishing .440 rate in a double-double effort with 11 digs.

Luper totaled nine double-doubles (all kill/digs) on the season, including four straight to end the year.
