Dodson Reflects on USA Collegiate National Team Experience

ANAHEIM, Calif. – UCLA women’s volleyball middle blocker Anna Dodson was selected to the USA Volleyball 2023 Collegiate National Team (CNT) last Thursday. The two-time All-Pac-12 honoree completed her training assignment this past weekend in Anaheim, Calif.

From June 18-24, Dodson trained alongside the Women’s National Team Olympic Champions as they prepared for the Volleyball Nations League.

“I am extremely grateful to be a part of the USA Collegiate National Team,” Dodson said. “The opportunity to represent our country, connect with athletes across the nation and learn from high-level coaches was an amazing experience. The training I received was invaluable, and I’m excited to bring home new knowledge and skills as we prepare for the upcoming season.”

Dodson and the Bruins begin a new era of UCLA women’s volleyball on Aug. 25 when they open the 2023 season at LSU in the Maravich Center under first-year head coach Alfee Reft. UCLA fans can get an early glimpse at the Bruins when they play an exhibition at Cal Baptist on Friday, Aug. 18 prior to the beginning of the regular season. UCLA will also play a pair of matches at Walter Pyramid in Long Beach, Calif. on Sept. 1 and 2 against Indiana and Long Beach State, respectively.

UCLA’s first home match will be versus rival USC on Wednesday, Sept. 20 in Pauley Pavilion presented by Wescom. Tickets will be going on sale at a later date in August.

Last year, Dodson was named AVCA Pacific South All-Regional Honorable Mention after leading UCLA with 77 blocks and a .330 hitting percentage. She also ranked second on the team with 2.54 kills per set. Dodson reached double-digit kills in 13 of the Bruins’ 29 matches last season.
