The CAVA Men’s U23 Volleyball Championship, sanctioned by the Central Asian Volleyball Association in line with the confirmation of the FIVB and AVC, will be held in Dhaka, Bangladesh from December 22 to 26, 2022.

Hosts Bangladesh, Nepal, Kyrgyzstan and Sri Lanka have been confirmed to pit their expertise against one another in the round-robin preliminaries, with the best-ranked team taking on the fourth-ranked side in the semifinals to vie for a place in the final showdown and teams finishing second and third places battling it out for the remaining slot.

According to the results of the drawing of lots and the match schedule, hosts Bangladesh are due to take on Nepal in the curtain-raisers on December 22, followed by the match between Sri Lanka and Kyrgyzstan.

Technical Delegate Ahmed Nasheed from Maldives and Referee Delegate Beny Coonghe Santiago from India attended the drawing of lots ceremony with representatives from the hosts side.

VIS Delegate Morteza Afjeh and Masoud Yazdanpanah, Chairperson of CAVA Events and Referees Committee for Volleyball, jointly conducted the drawings of lots.

CAVA President Mr Mohammed Latheef said, “We have been working very hard to complete all the Competitions listed in our 2022 Calendar, but unfortunately, we could not hold the CAVA Volleyball Challenge Cup in Maldives”.

He added, “We have two upcoming events CAVA Men’s U23 Volleyball Championship and CAVA Beach Volleyball Tour. Let’s work together hand in hand to make the events very successful. Individually, we are one drop. Together we are an ocean”.

Before the drawing of lots, the regulation of the events was approved by the Events and Referees Committee Members.

CAVA Secretary General Mr Kylych Sarbaghyshev of Kyrgyzstan wished all participating teams a nice tournament noting that CAVA also reduced the age groups to have U16 included in the CAVA Calendar next year.
