Duke Bounces Back with 3-2 Win Over Boston College

DURHAM, N.C. – The Duke volleyball team snapped its losing streak with a five-set victory (22-25, 25-22, 21-25, 25-20, 15-12) over Boston College Friday evening at Cameron Indoor Stadium. 
 
With the win, the Blue Devils open ACC play 1-0 and improve to 5-7 overall. Boston College dips to 7-6 overall and 0-1 in conference. 
 
Kerry Keefe led the offense with 18 kills, while Breonna Goss and Rylie Kadel added 11 each. Setter Grace Penn dished 45 dimes, while libero Mailinh Godschall added 21 digs. Goss and Keefe paced the blocking contingent with three each. 
 
How it Happened

  • Boston College opened the match and took an early 1-0 lead with help from a .333 hitting percentage with 14 kills and just four errors. The Eagles’ block was also on display with 11 total blocks; four from Julia Haggerty. 
  • Duke responded to take a set of its own as Keefe led the second set with five kills to hit .500 percent. Goss, Kadel, Keefe and Rachel Richardson all tallied a block to help keep the Eagles on their toes. 
  • Both teams struggled offensively in the third set, but Boston College took the 2-1 lead with a .100 hitting percentage and limited Duke to a negative clip. 
  • The Blue Devils once again dug deep and tied the match, 2-2, heading into the fifth and final set. Keefe led the way with seven kills as Duke hit its best of the contest, .341 percent, while Taylor Williams added four kills. Setter Penn assisted on all but one kill in the…
