Duke Closes Road Swing with No. 13 Georgia Tech, Clemson


DURHAM – The Duke volleyball team will close out its road swing this weekend at No. 13 Georgia Tech and Clemson.  

The Blue Devils face the Yellow Jackets Friday at 7 p.m. before a 1 p.m. Sunday contest at Clemson. Both matches will be broadcast on ACCNX.  

A CLOSER LOOK AT THE SERIES

GEORGIA TECH 

Duke and Georgia Tech meet for the 71st time in program history as the Blue Devils lead the all-time series, 45-25. Duke has lost seven of the last nine matchups, including five straight. The Blue Devils last won in Atlanta Oct. 27, 2017.  

CLEMSON 

Duke and Clemson meet for the 67th time in program history as the Blue Devils lead the all-time series, 43-23. Duke has won eight of the last nine. 

SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS

GEORGIA TECH 

Georgia Tech enters the weekend as the No. 13 team nationally, 15-3 overall and 6-2 in the ACC. Most recently, the Yellow Jackets were swept by Miami and have lost two of their last four matchups. Offensively, Georgia Tech is led by Tamara Otene with 228 kills and Larissa Mendes with 220 kills while its main setter, Isabella D’Amico owns 449 assists this fall. Bianca Bertolino has cemented herself as a top all-around player in the ACC with 198 kills, 42 aces, 183 digs and 32 total blocks. Defensively, Paola Pimentel leads the team with 294 digs while Liv Mogridge leads the blocking unit with 46. As a team, the Yellow Jackets are playing to a .245 hitting percentage and are limiting opponents to a .171 clip.  

CLEMSON 

Clemson enters Sunday’s contest 12-8 overall and 3-5 in conference play and went 1-1 last weekend with a win over Miami (3-2) before falling to Florida State (3-0). Offensively, six different Tigers own 100-or-more kills and are led by Kennedy Wagner with 154 kills and Azyah Dailey with 149 kills. Setter Mckenna Slavik has tallied 537 assists while Devan Taylor owns 275 digs. Adria Powell leads the blocking contingent with 98 total blocks, including 22 solo. As a team, Clemson is hitting .196 percent this fall. 

NEXT MATCH

Duke returns to Cameron Indoor Stadium to welcome North Carolina  (Oct. 25) and NC State (Oct. 27). The match against the Tar Heels will be broadcast on ACC Network.
