CLEMSON, S.C. – The Duke volleyball team returned to the win column with a 3-0 (25-19, 25-19, 25-20) sweep at Clemson Sunday afternoon at Jersey Gymnasium.
With the victory, graduate setter Emma Worthington reached 2,500 assists for her career. She tallied 1,819 dimes during her undergraduate career at Cornell and owns 706 as a Blue Devil.
Duke was led by Kerry Keefe with an impressive 18 kills and just two errors to hit .615 percent for the match. Worthington dished 38 assists, while Keefe tallied a career-high three aces. Rachel Richardson and Jess Robinson led the blocking unit with three each.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Duke jumped out to an early 1-0 lead with help from Keefe’s .700 hitting percentage and two aces as she got the Blue Devils rolling. Clemson tallied six block assists, but couldn’t find an answer for Duke’s high-powered offense.
- The second set featured a whopping .545 hitting percentage as the Blue Devils knocked in 15 kills and just three errors on 22 swings.
- Keefe once again led the charge with five kills and no mistakes while Lizzie Fleming added four.
- Clemson saw its best offensive output of the contest, .269 percent, but couldn’t quite string together a complete performance. Duke ended the contest hitting .417 percent as Keefe and Robinson combined for 11 kills.
