DURHAM – The Duke volleyball team swept Elon, 3-0 (25-11, 25-14, 25-18), Tuesday evening at Cameron Indoor Stadium. Head coach Jolene Nagel‘s team moves to 4-2 overall with its fourth-straight win.
Offensively, Duke was led by Kerry Keefe with 10 kills and just two errors to hit .471 percent for the match while Rylie Kadel added nine and a .667 percentage. Setter Millie Muir dished a career-high 23 dimes while libero Madison Bryant led the team with eight digs. At the net, Kadel tallied three total blocks to lead the defensive contingent.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Blue Devils’ offense was clicking throughout the entire match as Duke hit .301 percent — this was the first time Duke hit over .300 since it played to a .326 clip against Harvard (9/17/22).
- Duke hit .304 percent in the first set and limited Elon to a negative percentage to keep the Phoenix on their heels. Gracie Johnson knocked down three kills with no mistakes to lead the outside hitters early.
- Nagel’s offense continued to click in the second frame with a .387 percent, its best offensive output of the match. Kadel came off the bench to tally four kills while Rachel Richardson brought in five.
- The Phoenix hung tough in the third and what would become the final frame, but couldn’t find the answer offensively.
- Richardson collected three aces in the third set, which ties her career high, while Kadel and Keefe combined for 10 kills and just one error.
