Duke Swept at Virginia Friday Night

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Duke volleyball team was swept at Virginia, 3-0 (20-25, 18-25, 18-25) Friday evening in Charlottesville, Va. 
 
Duke falls to 7-11 overall and 3-4 in the ACC as Virginia improves to 15-3 (5-2 ACC). The loss snaps a 12-match winning streak against Virginia. 
 
The Cavaliers tallied 16 total blocks and limited the Blue Devils to a .126 hitting percentage for the match. 
 
The Blue Devils were led by Kerry Keefe with seven kills, while freshman Breonna Goss added six and no errors to hit .545 percent for the match. Setter Grace Penn dished 16 assists, while Nikki Underwood led the defense with 12 digs. 
 
How it Happened

• Virginia opened the match and took a 1-0 lead with a .333 hitting percentage in the first set. Kate Dean led the offense with five kills on seven attempts, while Duke’s Goss got hot early as well with a flawless four kills. 
• The Cavaliers tallied eight blocks in the second set to limit the Blue Devils to their lowest hitting percentage of the match (.047). 
• Virginia closed the match with a .410 hitting percentage with 20 kills and just four errors on 39 swings. Duke’s Ngozi Iloh came off the bench and tallied three kills and no errors, but Duke couldn’t find an answer.
