Duke Travels to Virginia, Welcomes Clemson for Senior Day


DURHAM – The Duke volleyball team travels to Charlottesville, Va., for a 7 p.m. contest Friday at Virginia before returning to Cameron Indoor Stadium for Senior Day. The Blue Devils will battle the Tigers Sunday at 1 p.m.

SENIOR SUCCESS

Prior to Sunday’s match, the Duke volleyball program will honor eight seniors for their achievements on and off the court. Duke will recognize graduate students Madison Bryant, Lizzie Fleming, Gracie Johnson, Jess Robinson and Emma Worthington, followed by seniors Georgia Stavrinides, Sydney Yap and manager Levi Little

A CLOSER LOOK AT THE SERIES

VIRGINIA

Duke and Virginia meet for the 73rd time in program history as the Blue Devils lead the all-time series, 59-13. Duke has won 28 of the last 29 meetings. The two teams previously met Sept. 24 in Durham as Duke secured a 3-0 sweep.

CLEMSON

Duke and Clemson meet for the 68th time in program history as the Blue Devils lead the all-time series, 44-23. Duke has won nine of the last 10 meetings. The two teams previously met Oct. 22 in Clemson as Duke secured a 3-0 sweep. 

SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS

VIRGINIA

Virginia enters Friday’s contest 10-15 overall, 3-12 in the ACC and is coming off a 3-2 victory over Notre Dame last weekend. The Cavaliers are led offensively by 264 kills and a .296 hitting percentage while Veresia Yon owns 213 kills and a .319 clip. Setter Ashley Le has 646 dimes to her name and leads the team with 30 aces, while Milan Gomillion leads the defensive charge with 378 digs. Yon also paces the blocking with 112 total blocks. As a team, Virginia is hitting .180 percent and its opponents are playing to a .214 percentage. 

CLEMSON

Clemson enters Sunday’s contest 16-11 overall and 7-8 in the ACC. The Tigers have won four of the last five games. Offensively, Clemson is led by Kennedy Wagner with 213 kills as six different Tigers boast over 100 kills. Setter Mckenna Slavik owns 770 dimes and 23 assists, while Devan Taylor has 359 digs to her name. Adria Powell leads the way with 130 total blocks. The Tigers are hitting .202 percent this fall.
