Duke Welcomes Boston College Friday

DURHAM – The Duke volleyball team welcomes Boston College Friday for a noon match at Cameron Indoor Stadium. Chris Edwards and Christina Lingley will be on the call on ACCNX.
 
LAST TIME OUT
Duke went 1-1 on the road over the weekend, falling to Virginia Tech (3-1) Friday before sweeping Wake Forest (3-0) Sunday in Winston-Salem. Duke was once again led offensively by Gracie Johnson with 20 kills and just three errors to hit an impressive .447 percent. She also added four digs and two blocks to showcase her all-around game as she tallied her 12th career match with 20 or more kills. Setter Devon Chang dished 36 assists while Georgia Stavrinides tallied six blocks, including two solo, to lead the unit at the net. Sydney Yap tallied two aces.
 
A CLOSER LOOK AT THE SERIES
Duke is 23-4 all-time against Boston College dating back to 2005. The two squads previously met this season (Sept. 25) when the Eagles captured a 3-2 victory in Chestnut Hill.
 
SCOUTING THE EAGLES
Boston College sits at 17-11 on the season and 5-9 in the ACC. The Eagles are coming off a 1-1 weekend where they took down Virginia in five sets and lost to #7 Pittsburgh over the weekend. As a team, Boston College features four players with 200 or more kills, led by Izzy Clavenna (234) and Alayna Crabtree (231). Their main setter, Grace Penn, owns 637 assists while five have tallied 100 or more digs as Anna Murphy leads the way with 396. At the net, Julia Haggerty and Kate Brennan paces the defensive unit with 121 and 109 total blocks this fall. The Eagles as a team currently stands sixth in the ACC in hitting percentage (.225) and first in the conference in total kills (1,369). They also lead the conference in total assists (1,291) and are third in assists per set (12.07). They have shown some impressive defense at the net as well this season ranking second in the conference in total blocks (254.0) and are fifth in blocks per set (2.37). The Eagles also lead the ACC in service aces (178) and are fifth in aces per set (1.66).
