Dutchwomen Drop Match to Clarkson

St. Lawrence

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – Clarkson University hit .316 as a team as the Golden Knights defeated the Union College women’s volleyball team by a 3-0 (25-15, 25-6, 25-17) score in a Liberty League matchup on Friday night at Viniar Athletic Center.

Clarkson (15-8, 4-2 Liberty League) put down 42 kills with just 12 errors in the victory, while Union (5-15, 0-6 Liberty League) recorded just 18 kills as a team. Senior Jessica Siragusa led the Dutchwomen with five kills, followed by junior Sofia Barth with four kills.

Union hung with Clarkson early in the first set, but the Golden Knights closed with 11 of the final 16 points to grab the early lead. The second set belonged entirely to the visitors, as Clarkson finished with 12 kills on 18 attempts while Union managed back-to-back points only once.

After Clarkson jumped out to an early lead in the third set, Union attempted to mount a late comeback with a 12-4 run, but it was not enough as the Golden Knights eventually closed out the set and the match.

Union will close out its home and conference slate tomorrow, as the Dutchwomen celebrate their two seniors with Senior Day against St. Lawrence University beginning at 2 p.m. at Viniar Athletic Center.
