EVANSVILLE, Ind.- University of Southern Indiana Volleyball (8-17, OVC 3-10) falls in four sets for their eighth-straight match against Tennessee State University (7-19, OVC 3-10) on Friday night (25-27, 25-10, 17-25, 21-25).
Set 1: TSU 27, USI 25
Sophomore Ashby Willis caught fire early with three straight kills making it 9-6. Senior Carly Sobieralski helped the Eagles extend their lead to 18-13 with a service ace. USI had three chances on match point but failed to convert allowing the Tigers to tie the match at 24. TSU snatched set one after earning three of the next four points. The loss marks the Eagles 20th set one loss of the season at 5-20.
Set 2: TSU 10, USI 25
TSU took the early lead before junior Bianca Anderson converted an elusive slide tying the match at five. Seniors Paris Downing and Jasmine Green smashed back-to-back kills giving USI a three-point lead. After falling behind 5-2 early, USI dominated with a 23-5 run attacking the Tigers from all angles. Green finished the set with five kills, while sophomore Leah Coleman added five of her own. Sobieralski dished out 14 assists and an ace. The Eagles offensive jolt included a season best .517 attacking percentage.
Set 3: TSU 25, USI 17
The Tigers took another early lead snatching the first four points. Senior Abby Weber sparked a six-point run with a masterclass at the service line with three aces. However, TSU created their own 9-2 shocking the Eagles by taking a two-point lead. Multiple attacking errors…
