Elmira Drops Saturday Afternoon Slate to SUNY Brockport

BROCKPORT N.Y. – The Elmira College Soaring Eagles fell in its Saturday afternoon Empire 8 matchup to the hosts from SUNY Brockport, 3-0. In their first ever meeting as Empire 8 opponents with the Golden Eagles joining the E8 ahead of this year and their first meeting since the 2018 season, the Golden Eagles would see a balanced attack between Alexis Sison and Alenna Williamson, who each finished with nine kills. 

For Elmira, they were paced offensively by Morgan Richardson ’25 and Kayla Neer ’25, who posted six and five kills, respectively. Additionally, Erin Bracken ’28 would chip in 17 set assists, while Gabriella Rustine ’26 would tally a pair of blocks.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The Golden Flyers would hold EC to five kills in the first set, while going for ten of its own en route to a 25-14 victory. 
  • In the second, Brockport would score nine of the first 11 points in the frame, eventually widening its lead to 20-7 following a pair of service aces from Elsie Logan. From there, the home team would eventually take the set 25-11.
  • The third set would prove to be the most back-and-forth between the teams, with Elmira producing a match-best 13 kills in the frame compared to 11 for the Golden Eagles.
