Pullman, Wash. (Sept. 2, 2024) – Washington State volleyball’s sophomore libero Emma Barbero was named the West Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Week Monday morning.
Barbero led the WCC this weekend with 5.14 digs per set, totaling 72 digs over the team’s three matches. She recorded 20+ digs in all three matches, and her 25 on Friday was the most in a single match at WSU since the 2018 season. Then she topped that total with 27 on Sunday to help the Cougs net their first win of the season with a 3-2 reverse sweep of Omaha.
Washington State will host its home opener on Friday, Sept. 6 against Eastern Washington in Bohler Gym. First serve is set for 7 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN+.
