Emma Reilly Named SUNYAC Volleyball Defensive Athlete of the Week


Cortland freshman middle blocker Emma Reilly (Massapequa Park/Massapequa) has been named the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Women’s Volleyball Defensive Athlete of the Week for the week ending Oct. 30.

Reilly averaged 1.5 blocks per set and registered 19 kills and a .325 attack percentage in a 2-1 weekend for Cortland as the Red Dragons wrapped up the regular season. She had four blocks and five kills in a three-set win at regionally ranked Rowan Friday, followed on Saturday by five blocks and six kills in a four-set loss at Eastern University and six blocks, three solo, and eight kills in a three-set win versus Cabrini. 

 

Reilly has played in 75 sets over 21 matches this season. She’s currently tied for second in the SUNYAC with 1.0 blocks per set (75 total) and she has totaled 97 kills and a .328 attack percentage. 

 

Cortland is 19-5 overall and won the SUNYAC regular-season title with a 9-0 record. The Red Dragons will look to successfully defend their conference crown when they host the league tournament semifinals and finals Friday and Saturday, Nov. 4-5.
