The Drawing of Lots for the U21 men, U19 women and U19 men were held in Lausanne on March 31
The pool compositions for three of the four FIVB Volleyball Age Group World Championships set to take place this year were determined on Friday.
The Drawing of Lots for the men’s edition of the U21 World Championship, alongside the women’s and men’s U19 World Championships, were held in Lausanne. The draw for the U21 World Championship for women’s teams, hosted in the Mexican cities of Leon and Aguascalientes from 17 to 26 August, will be conducted on 12 May in Mexico City.
FIVB Volleyball Men’s U21 World Championship
The 16 teams participating in the Men’s U21 World Championship to be held in Manama, Bahrain from 7 to 11 July, 2023 were split into four round-robin pools of four:
Pool A: Bahrain (host), Iran, Thailand, Tunisia
Pool B: Italy, Brazil, Egypt, Mexico
Pool C: Poland, Bulgaria, Canada, India
Pool D: Argentina, Belgium, Czechia, United States
The top two teams from each pool will advance to round-robin pools E and F of the second phase, while the rest will move to pools G and H to continue the battles for classification from eighth to 16th. The winners and runners-up of pools E and F will progress to the semifinals and eventually determine the medallists.
FIVB Volleyball Women’s U19 World Championship
Osijek, Croatia and Szeged, Hungary will host the Women’s U19 World Championship from 1 to 11 August with the participation of 24 teams. They were drawn into four round-robin pools of six:
Pool A: Hungary (host 1), Argentina, Egypt, Cameroon, China, Chile
Pool B: Croatia (host 2), Türkiye, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Nigeria, Germany
Pool C: Italy, Brazil, Thailand, Peru, Canada, Bulgaria
Pool D: United States, Serbia, Poland, Mexico, Japan, Korea
The top four teams from each pool will progress to the eighthfinals, while the remaining participants will continue in the playoffs for the distribution of the positions from 17th to 24th.
FIVB Volleyball Men’s U19 World Championship
The Men’s U19 World Championship will be staged in San Juan, Argentina from 2 to 11 August. The 20 teams participating in the pool phase were divided in four round-robin groups of five:
Pool A: Argentina (host), Egypt, United States, Serbia, Costa Rica
Pool B: Bulgaria, India, Japan, France, Slovenia
Pool C: Iran, Nigeria, Columbia, Puerto Rico, Korea
Pool D: Italy, Brazil, Belgium, Mexico, Chile
