GREENSBORO, N.C. – As its 2022 fall regular season begins to wrap, Wake Forest volleyball has received another weekly honor for one of its standout newcomers. Libero Emma Farrell was named Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Freshman of the Week on Tuesday (Nov. 15), announced by the conference’s office.
This is the second time this season that Farrell has received such recognition from the ACC, the first of which occurred back on Sept. 19. Additionally, outside hitter Paige Crawford picked up Freshman of the Week selections twice last month (Oct. 10 and Oct. 17). Wake Forest has now had multiple freshmen notch weekly ACC honors on multiple occasions for the first time in program history.
“Emma! Our goal is to out-dig our opponents, and she sure leads us in doing it,” said head coach Randi Smart. “I am very proud of her focus, determination and continued growth at this level. As she becomes more and more confident, the team does as well. I am proud of both Emma and her teammates for trusting her and making her better daily.”
In the Demon Deacons’ lone match versus Virginia Tech this past Sunday (Nov. 13), Farrell paced all individuals with 22 digs. The total mark was her highest in a conference showing this season. Having maintained her place as the conference’s digs-per-set leader (4.49) since week two of the fall campaign, Farrell has now recorded 20 or more digs in eight matches:

Wake Forest visits Duke University on Wednesday (Nov. 16) for a final Big Four matchup of the regular season.
