STANFORD, Calif. – No. 7 Stanford (21-4, 13-3 ACC) embarks on its final ACC road trip of the season, traveling to Duke (9-18, 5-11 ACC) on Friday, North Carolina (19-6, 11-5 ACC) on Sunday and No. 15 Georgia Tech (20-5, 12-4 ACC) on Wednesday.
THE SERIES AGAINST THE BLUE DEVILS: Stanford is 6-0 all-time versus Duke. The Cardinal swept the Blue Devils in the most recent meeting between the teams on Aug. 31, 2019 in Charleston, S.C. Friday marks Stanford’s first trip to Durham since 2015.
THE SERIES AGAINST THE TAR HEELS: The Cardinal is 2-1 overall against North Carolina. In the most recent meeting, the Tar Heels swept Stanford on Sept. 10, 2015 in Chapel Hill. The Cardinal’s last victory came in 1997 – a three-set win in Chapel Hill.
THE SERIES AGAINST THE YELLOW JACKETS: Stanford is 3-0 all-time versus Georgia Tech, including a sweep over the Yellow Jackets at home on Nov. 9 – the first meeting between the teams since 1995. Kami Miner and Elena Oglivie recorded double-doubles, and Ipar Kurt hit .833 to lead Stanford in the win.
LAST TIME OUT: Stanford improved to 11-0 at home this season with a pair of sweeps over Virginia and Virginia Tech. Kami Miner set the Cardinal offense to a combined .491 attack percentage, averaging 13.00 assists per set. Outside hitter Elia Rubin led the team with 4.50 kills per set on .533 hitting. Middle blocker Sami Francis hit .727 in the two matches, registering 16 kills on 22 swings with no errors.
COACHES’ PICK: In its inaugural ACC season, Stanford was picked to finish second by the league’s coaches. The Cardinal captured three first-place votes and placed four on the Preseason All-ACC squad – middle blocker Sami Francis, setter Kami Miner, libero Elena Oglivie and outside hitter Elia Rubin.
HOME SWEET HOME: In eight seasons under Kevin Hambly, Stanford is 96-12 at Maples Pavilion, including 18-2 in the NCAA Tournament. The Cardinal won 32 in a row at home to begin Hambly’s tenure at Stanford. This season, the Cardinal is 11-0 at home and has dropped just two sets on The Farm.
MILESTONE UNLOCKED: Kami Miner recorded her 4,000th career assist on Sept. 2 in a four-set win over No. 6 Wisconsin. She became the seventh player in school history to reach the milestone. In the rally-scoring era to 25, Miner is third behind Jenna Gray (5,485) and Madi Bugg (5,014) with 4,835 assists. Her 11.40 career assists per set mark would be a program record in the rally-scoring era to 25.
