Fingall Named SEC Player & Offensive Player of the Week


BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – A day after being named the SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year and garnering a spot on the 2022 All-SEC Team, senior Morgahn Fingall has picked up SEC Player and Offensive Player of the Week honors, the conference office announced Monday.
 
Guiding Tennessee past Alabama over the Thanksgiving holiday and into the 2022 NCAA Volleyball Tournament, Fingall averaged 6.00 kills per set, 1.00 ace per set, 2.00 digs per set and 7.57 points per set.
 
The right-side attacker hit .405 on the weekend and scored 42 kills in seven total sets. In UT’s Friday night sweep, she powered home 23 kills – committed just two errors – on a .656 hit percentage. On Wednesday, Fingall notched 19 kills and tied her career-high in aces with five.
 
It is Fingall’s fourth offensive player of the week award this season and her third player of the week honor. The Fairfax, Virginia, native has been tabbed offensive player of the week five times in her career.
 
She finished the regular season with a career-high and team-leading 458 kills, averaging an SEC-best 4.36 kills per set. Fingall also averaged 5.10 points per set this season – tops in the conference. Nationally, she ranks 12th in points per set and 17th in kills per set.
 
Fingall and the Lady Vols enter postseason play this weekend as they travel to Louisville, Kentucky, for the first and second rounds of the NCAA Tournament. UT opens play against Purdue on Friday at 4 p.m. ET.
