Fingall Tabbed to SEC Community Service Team

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Tennessee’s Morgahn Fingall added another yearly honor to her growing list Wednesday, being named to the SEC Community Service Team.

Throughout her career, Fingall has logged 60 hours of community service in addition to enjoying success in the classroom and on the court. When not focusing on volleyball or her classes, Fingall can regularly be found volunteering at Lonsdale Elementary, helping teach P.E. classes. In addition, she has assisted with Tennessee Athletics’ annual VOLoween night, which includes trick-or-treating around the athletic complex, face painting and playing games with children from the Knoxville community. She was also a member of UT’s VOLeaders Academy, going on a service trip during the summer of 2022 to Rwanda.

Earlier this week, Fingall was recognized for excelling both athletically and academically. For the second year in a row, Fingall received SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors. She earned her bachelor’s degree in kinesiology with a minor in public health and is currently pursuing a master’s in public health while boasting a 3.80 GPA. She was a 2022 CSC Academic All-District Team honoree and four-time SEC Academic Honor Roll selection.

In competition this year, Fingall earned AVCA National Player of the Week recognition, brought home SEC Player of the Week honors twice and was three times named SEC Offensive Player of the Week to earn All-SEC honors for the second season in a row. She averaged 4.92 points, 4.24 kills, 1.83 digs, 0.74 blocks and 0.31 aces per set while hitting .322 this year. Those numbers improved to 5.23 points, 4.56 kills, 2.17 digs and 0.88 blocks per set when facing AVCA Top 50 teams. She owned an SEC-leading 4.38 kills per set during conference play.

Fingall ranks second in the SEC in kills per set, third in points per set and 10th in hitting percentage. She sits inside the top 35 nationally in both kills and points per set. On the season, she’s been a do-it-all player for the Big Orange, recording double-digit kills in 24 matches this season, including five 20-kill performances, posting five double-doubles on the year, notching multiple aces in eight contests and finishing three matches with at least five blocks.

After enjoying one of the best regular seasons in program history, the Lady Vols earned a spot in the NCAA Tournament and were selected as the No. 10 national seed.
