Bangkok, Thailand, November 18, 2022 – After hectic five days of learning activities, the FIVB International Beach Volleyball Coaches Course at the FIVB Development Centre in Thailand drew to a fruitful close, with AVC Honorary Life Vice President and Executive Director Mr Shanrit Wongprasert presiding over the certificate presentation and closing ceremony on Friday.
Up to 24 candidates from 7 countries consisting of Hong Kong China, Iran, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Singapore, England and Thailand underwent the intensive coach training workshop from November 14 to 18, directed by FIVB Course Instructor Mr David Smith, a former international indoor volleyball referee who has also had previous experience in teaching and coaching volleyball and beach volleyball.
The course was a combination of theory and practical information focusing on the rules, coaching techniques, communication, health and well-being of athletes, community coaching, drills and skills.
Also attending the ceremony on Friday were Mr Issara Riddhisinha, General Manager of FIVB Development Centre in Thailand, FIVB Course Instructor Mr David Smith, AVC Development Coordinator Ms Mingkwan Pusiddusid and all 19 men’s and 5 women’s participants.
On the final day of the learning activities, FIVB Course Instructor Mr David Smith said, “I would like to extend my gratitude to FIVB DC in Thailand, Thailand Volleyball Association and Asian Volleyball Confederation for their supports in holding this course successfully. On the very first day, all participants were strangers to each other, but now all of you become good friends.
“I was really pleased with the commitment of the participants as it brought different perspectives to the discussions and the learnings about the sport of beach volleyball. I strongly hope that all participants will bring knowledge you had effectively acquired from this course to be a useful source of support for development of your national teams,” he said.
In his closing speech, Mr Shanrit said, “With good signs of improving COVID-19 situation in Thailand, the FIVB Development Centre in Bangkok now can welcome overseas teams for intensive training here. Courses can also be held on site and therefore, it’s a good chance for those who are interested to attend the courses provided.
