Bangkok, Thailand, September 15, 2022 – The FIVB International Level-1 Coaches Course is well under way at the FIVB Development Centre in Thailand, with FIVB Instructor Mr Bojan Mirkovic from Croatia conducting the five-day workshop theoretically and practically.
A total of 20 candidates, most of them retired national team players, teachers and coaches from four countries consisting of Hong Kong China, India, Maldives and Thailand, attended the course which aims to teach the basic rules, techniques and the values of volleyball from the invention of the game as well as how best to introduce the sport to beginners, to develop internal method of training and qualifying coaches and teachers, to improve the knowledge and competence of coaches and teachers so that they may gain recognition as FIVB coaches in the near future and to exchange ideas and experiences.
Among the well-known participants are former Thailand national players, globally known as the Fab Six including setter Nootsara Tomkom and powerful attacker Onuma Sittirak, who in the old days had sparked volleyball dreams that had rippled across the world and inspired a generation of fans.
Mr Somporn Chaibangyang, President of Thailand Volleyball Association, presided over the Thursday’s opening ceremony at the FIVB DC Thailand, joined as guests of honour by Asst Prof Dr Soratee Preechapanyakul, Vice President for Public Relations, Ramkhamhaeng University, Mr Thanatchapol Polrat, Vice Director Sports Office of Ramkhamhaeng University, AVC General Manager Dr Rueangsak Siriphol and FIVB Instructor Mr Bojan Mirkovic. Also in attendance were Mr Issara Riddhisinha, General Manager of FIVB DC Thailand and AVC Development Coordinator Ms Mingkwan Pusiddusid.
In his welcome speech, Mr Somporn said, “I would like to extend my warmest welcome to the Course Instructor Mr Bojan Mirkovic and all 20 participants from Hong Kong China, India, Maldives and Thailand. I sincerely wish all of you a very happy and pleasant stay in Bangkok during your attendance in this course.
“On behalf of Thailand Volleyball Association, I would like to convey my sincere gratitude to Ramkhamhaeng University for its full supports on facilities, equipment an well-qualified personnel for all activities relevant to the course conducted.
