The volleyball competition at the Olympic Games Paris 2024 has come to a triumphant close, leaving its mark on the hearts of millions around the world – whether that be the athletes, coaches, devoted fans, global leaders or the star-studded line-up of celebrities and dignitaries who witnessed the magnificent scenes.

Set against the backdrop of the iconic South Paris Arena 1, the competition, which was held exactly 60 years after volleyball’s debut at the Olympic Games in Tokyo 1964, was nothing short of spectacular. Each day, the arena was buzzing with excitement with the sporting spectacle that was unfolding, drawing in crowds from all corners of the world.

Reflecting on the success of the volleyball competitions in the French capital, FIVB President Dr Ary S. Graça F° said: “Paris 2024 has been a shining example of the importance of sport and how volleyball can unite people from all areas of the world. From the athletes’ extraordinary performances to the incredibly hard work of everybody behind the scenes to put on this event and the unwavering support and enthusiasm of fans, this volleyball competition has showcased the very best of our sport and the Olympic spirit.

“In what was my final Olympic Games as President of the FIVB, I am incredibly proud that the Federation has been a part of creating these special memories for millions of people and we look forward to continuing to bring joy through volleyball.”

Paris 2024 volleyball champions crowned

In the men’s tournament, France defended their Olympic title against Poland in front of an ecstatic home crowd, securing their second consecutive gold in what was an epic final. The victory was a defining moment for the host nation, as “Allez les Bleus” echoed through the stadium, capturing the pride of a nation revelling in Olympic glory. The USA secured the final spot on the podium after emerging victorious over Italy. For the second time at an Olympic Games, star outside hitter Earvin Ngapeth, who was playing in his third Games, was named as the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the event.
