Five Bruins Receive All-Pac-12 Accolades

Redshirt junior middle blocker Anna Dodson and freshman outsider hitter Grayce Olson lead a group of Bruins who were honored with 2022 Pac-12 Women’s Volleyball year-end awards. Dodson was named to the All-Pac-12 Team while Olson was selected to the Pac-12 All-Freshman Team, it was announced by the conference Tuesday afternoon.

Outside hitters élan McCall, Charitie Luper and Iman Ndiaye were also awarded honorable mention plaudits.

This is Dodson’s second time receiving the award after being recognized in the Fall 2021 season.

This year, Anna Dodson was UCLA’s most efficient attacker, averaging 2.54 kills per set in 102 sets played (256 kills) with a team-high .330 hitting percentage. She ranked 13th amongst Pac-12 players in hitting percentage this season.

Dodson entered the season with seven double-digit kill outings in her career and nearly doubled that production with 13 in 2022. She went on a stretch in Pac-12 play from Oct. 16 through Nov. 12 with seven consecutive matches of at least 10 kills, hitting .330 in five of those contests.

Dodson set a new career-high in kills with 15 at .478 versus Arizona on Nov. 4. With her five blocks in that match, she came just .5 point short of the 20-point mark.

Ever versatile, Dodson recorded the first double-double of her career at Colorado on Oct. 28 with 11 kills and 11 digs.

Freshman Grayce Olson was one of five Bruins to eclipse 100 kills with 165 in 2022. She led all UCLA freshmen with 2.25 kills per frame at .235. Olson reached double-digit kills on eight occasions with three coming in the Bruins’ final four matches of the regular season.

Olson’s season-high in kills came at the Outrigger Volleyball Challenge when she notched 14 at .290 versus a top-50 team in Texas State on Sept. 2.

This is McCall’s third All-Pac-12 award after being named to the First Team in Spring 2021 and honorable mention last season. McCall was a two-way star for the Bruins, ranking first on the team with 312 kills (3.09 KPS) and second with 286 digs (2.83 DPS). McCall led UCLA with 11 double-doubles this season (all kills/digs).

Earlier in the year, McCall reached the 1,000 career kill and 1,000 career dig club. Across her two seasons at TCU (2018-19) and three at UCLA (2020-22), she amassed 463 kills as a Horned Frog and 698 as a Bruin. Dig wise, at TCU she…
