Five Members of Lewis Women's Volleyball Garner All-GLVC Honors; Including Four First Team


INDIANAPOLIS — The Great Lakes Valley Conference has announced their post season awards with five Lewis University women’s volleyball players being named to the All-GLVC team, including four members on the first team and one on the second team. Bella Ray (Plainfield, Ill./Joliet Catholic), Lauren Stenman (Maplewood, Minn./North St. Paul)Juliana Van Loo (Burbank, Calif./John Burroughs) and Andrea Zeiser (Eureka, Mo./Eureka) were all named All-GLVC First Team and Megan Schlechte (Strasburg, Ill./Stewardson-Strasburg) was named All-GLVC Second Team. Zeiser was also the Lewis women’s volleyball honoree for the James R. Spalding Sportsmanship Award. 

Ray has played in all 27 matches for the Flyers so far this season and leads the team with kills (307) and blocks (132). Her 132 blocks also leads the GLVC this year. 

Stenman has seen action in 26 contests for Lewis this year. She has recorded 833 assists with 9.8 assists per set, which ranks third in the GLVC and picked up 190 digs on the defensive side of the ball. 

Van Loo has played in 25 matches for the Flyers, while appearing in 85 total sets. The junior has 271 kills, owns a .292 attack percentage and 55 blocks at the net. 

Zeiser saw the floor in all of Lewis’ 27 matches with leading the team with digs (480) and her 5.11 digs per set ranks second in the GLVC. 

Schlechte has played in all 27 games for Lewis, who has been big on both sides of the ball. The senior has recorded 267 kills, picked up 326 digs and 30 blocks at the net.

The No. 4 seeded Flyers face off with No. 5 seed Missouri S&T Thursday at 2:30 p.m. in East Peoria in the opening round of the GLVC Tournament.
