ROMEOVILLE, Ill. — The 2024 Academic All-District Volleyball teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom were announced Tuesday (December 17) as Hannah Alvey (Mapleton, Ill./Illinois Central College), Ally Hickey (Granger, Ind./Penn), Rachel Kaczorowski (Carpentersville, Ill./Harry D. Jacobs) and Bella Ray (Plainfield, Ill./Joliet Catholic) were all recognized for their accomplishments on and off the court. Academic All-District honorees are now considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America ballot to be voted on by CSC members. Academic All-America honorees will be announced January 14, 2025.
To be eligible for Academic All-District honors, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore in eligibility and academically with a 3.5 or better cumulative grade point average and have competed in at least 90 percent of the team’s sets played or started in at least two-thirds of the team’s total matches. The Division II CSC Academic All-America programs are partially supported financially by the NCAA Division II national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2024-25 Divisions II Academic All-America programs.
Alvey, an outside hitter who is majoring in Psychology, played in 34 matches and 123 sets this season, recording 313 kills, 2.54 kills/set and had an .176 attack percentage. Alvey ranked third on the team with 368 digs and fourth in total blocks at 58.
Hickey, a libero who received her MBA last week, saw action in 32 contests this season and played in 118 sets. She recorded 677 digs (third in NCAA DII) and posted a 5.74 digs/set (seventh in nation). She was also awarded AVCA Midwest Region Honorable Mention, AVCA All-American Honorable Mention and All-GLVC Second Team.
Kaczorowski is a setter who is majoring in Elementary Education. She saw action in 33 matches this season and competed in 120 total sets. Kaczorowski ranked second on the team in assists with 606 (5.06 assists/set), while leading the way with 42 service aces.
Ray, a middle blocker, is a graduate student who started in all 34 matches and saw the floor in 128 out of a possible 129 sets for Lewis. She recorded 406 kills, 3.17 kills/set and a .334 attack percentage…
