LOS ANGELES – USC men’s volleyball redshirt junior opposite hitter Jack Deuchar (Honolulu, Hawai’i/Punahou School), sophomore outside hitter Riley Haine(Hawai’i Kai, Hawai’i/Punahou School), senior outside hitter Jackson Reed (Carlsbad, Calif./Cathedral Catholic HS), and sophomore setter Ryan Sprague(Manhattan Beach, Calif./Loyola HS) were each named to the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation All-Academic Team on Friday, May 17.

Reed—who graduated from USC with a bachelor’s degree in communication this month—earned his second-career conference academic honor. Deuchar, Haine, and Sprague are each business administration majors and were each named to the all-academic team for the first time in their careers.

In order to be chosen for all-academic honors, a student-athlete must carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher, be at least a sophomore academically, have completed a full academic year at the institution prior to the season for which the award is received, and have participated in at least 50 percent of a team’s scheduled competitions for the corresponding season.

The Trojans were 13-15 in the regular season and finished sixth in the MPSF standings (3-9). In the postseason, USC advanced to the MPSF tournament semifinal where it fell to league runner-up UCLA. The Trojans earned six wins over ranked opponents and ninth-year head coach Jeff Nygaard reached 100-career victories.
