In a historic first, the French men’s and women’s sitting volleyball teams will compete at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games. The event will be held at the North Paris Arena in Villepinte, with the group stage matches running from August 29 to September 3, and the final stage from September 4 to 7.
Dominique Duvivier and Yohann Escalla, coaches of the men’s and women’s teams, respectively, have announced the final rosters for this landmark event.
Duvivier’s team will compete in Group A alongside Egypt, Bosnia-Herzegovina, and Kazakhstan. His roster of 12 has a well-prepared core group that has been training intensively for the past three years.
The men’s team is composed of Mamadou Bah, Thomas Laronce, Cyrille Chahboune, Matthieu Jagu, Jean-Christophe Rambeau, Gildas Guiheneuf-Lalere, Morgan Troussard, Benjamin Lacroix-Desmazes, Romain Wolniewicz, Thibaud Lefrançois, Damien Roget and Benjamin Pillerault.
Their schedule is set with matches against Kazakhstan on Thursday, August 29 at 20:00 local tme, Egypt on Saturday, August 31 at 18:00, and Bosnia and Herzegovina on Monday, September 2 at 20:00.
Escalla’s women’s team, newer to the sport’s international stage, will compete in Group A with the United States, China, and Italy. The selected group of nine players is expected to bring competitive energy and teamwork to the court after competing against best teams in the world at the 2024 WPV Women’s Super 6 in Nancy last June.
The women’s team roster is comprised of Jenna Agbodan-Prince, Séverine Baillot, Karen Faimali Meger, Estelle Marsa Galant, Aurélie Garcia, Olivia Lanes, Julie Ligner, Lynda Medjaheri, and Anaïs Rigal.
Their schedule includes matches against Italy on Friday, August 30 at 20:00, the United States on Sunday, September 1 at 20:00, and China on Tuesday, September 3 at 20:00.
