MADISON, Wis. – A day after being name Big Ten Player of the Week, senior Sarah Franklin of the Wisconsin volleyball team has been named American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Divisional Player of the Week for the week of November 27.
To wrap up the regular season, Franklin helped the Badgers (26-3, 17-3) to a 2-0 weekend with wins over No. 1 Nebraska and Iowa. The outside hitter tallied 30 kills, including 16 against the Cornhuskers, and averaged 5.00 kills per set. Franklin also hit .329 (30-7-70), added three blocks, and 15 digs.
In 99 sets played this regular season, the six-foot-four outside hitter tallied 413 kills, averaging 4.17 kills per set, while also averaging 2.02 digs per set .52 blocks per set, and 4.64 points per set.
The last Badger to be named ACA National Player of the Week was Dana Rettke back on January 27, 2021. In total, Wisconsin has had eight athletes to earn the award.
