WASHINGTON – The Gallaudet University women’s volleyball team rolled to a clean sweep of Hood College here Thursday night in a non-conference match in the Field House. The Bison won in straight sets; 25-10, 25-15, 25-22.
Gallaudet (12-10) posted a .324 hitting percentage and served up 12 aces in the 3-0 win over the Blazers (3-13). Sophomore opposite Emily Wright (Auburn, Calif.) led the Bison with 13 kills (.429 attack percentage) while senior opposite Elina Rubinshteyn (Austin, Texas) added nine kills. Freshman setter Alyssa Glennon (Buda, Texas) passed out 39 assists, made nine digs and served up three aces. Junior libero Mia Upchurch (Austin, Texas) recorded a match-high 17 digs and five aces. Freshman middle hitter Anya Pothorski (Indianapolis, Ind.) made three blocks (one solo) upfront.
Hood was led by Carrington Ray’s six kills and Casey Chamberlin’s nine assists in the loss.

- Senior outside hitter Karita Lewis (Frederick, Md.) had seven kills and 14 digs
- Gallaudet played 14 players in the match
- The Bison had a team hitting percentage of .370 in the first set and .326 in the third set
- GU surpassed its win total from the 2019 season (11-24)
UP NEXT
Gallaudet was slated to travel to Lancaster, Pa., this weekend to face Penn St.-Berks and Lancaster Bible College but that United East tri-meet has been postponed and will move to Sunday, Oct. 24. The Bison will play Berks at 3 p.m. followed by a match with Lancaster Bible at 5 p.m. The Bison’s next match is next Wednesday, Oct. 20, at 7 p.m. against Notre Dame of Maryland University as Gallaudet participates in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Dig Pink night.
