GENERAL TECHNICAL MEETING HELD AHEAD OF 15th ASIAN MEN’S U18 CHAMPIONSHIP IN BAHRAIN

Manama, Bahrain, July 27, 2024 – Team managers and staff coaches from 16 teams participating in the 15th Asian Men’s U18 Volleyball Championship on Saturday evening attended the General Technical Meeting at the Gulf Court Hotel, the hotel designated for all participating teams, to hear the rules and regulations and the Challenge System.

Vice President of the Bahrain Volleyball Association Mr Mohammed Al-Thawadi presided over the meeting, attended by Director of Operations of the Executive Committee, Habib Mohammed Abdullah, Control Committee President Mr Yermek Syrlybayev as well as CC Members, Executive Committee Members of the championship and team representatives.

The meeting began with a welcome speech from Mohammed Al-Thawadi, in which he conveyed the greetings to all from the President of Organizing Committee, Sheikh Ali bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, and the President of Executive Committee, Mr Feras Al-Halwaji, wishing them a pleasant stay and good hospitality in Bahrain. Mr Habib Mohammed also renewed his welcome to all participants, wishing them success, and he then introduced the Members of the Executive Committee to the meeting.

During the meeting, the adopting of the team uniform colors during the matches was raised for discussion, implementing Protocol B. All participating teams were also informed of necessary matters including eligibility of players, position of team statisticians and video cameras.

Referee Delegate Mr Ebrahim Al-naama reported on the Rules of the Game to be applied, discipline on the court, match protocol and the Video Challenge System.

 

Meanwhile, teams will contest pool round-robin preliminaries on Sunday. Four matches will take place at the Isa Sport City Hall C (Main Hall).

Saudi Arabia will take on Chinese Taipei at 11:30am local time, followed by  the second encounter between reigning champions Japan and Kazakhstan at 14:00pm.

Australia are due to play Thailand at 16.30pm, while hosts Bahrain will meet Hong Kong, China  at 19:00pm.

At Hall B (Second Hall), China will face off against Philippine at 11:30am, while Iran will be pitted against Lebanon at 14:00pm.

Kuwait and India are set for intense duel at 16:30pm and Pakistan will kick off their campaign against Korea at 19:00pm.
