NPC Germany has officially announced the athletes competing at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games. Among those ready to make their mark are members of the German men’s sitting volleyball team – a squad with rich history in the sport and high hopes for the upcoming Games.
At the press conference held at the Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe’s representative office in Berlin, DBS President Friedhelm Julius Beucher emphasised the unique appeal of this year’s Games.
“Paralympics in a neighbouring country, in the heart of Europe, without a time difference; finally full competition venues again and the concentrated load of emotions that make up sport – these are the ingredients that taste particularly good to us.”
The roster of the German men’s sitting volleyball team for Paris 2024 includes Dominik Albrecht, Magnus Fischer, Stefan Hähnlein, Thomas Renger, Torben Schiewe, Alexander Schiffler, Lukas Schiwy, Jürgen Schrapp, Florian Singer, Mathis Tigler, Francis Tonleu, and Heiko Wiesenthal.
Germany’s sitting volleyball team has a rich history in the Paralympics, having participated in seven previous Games and winning bronze medals in Barcelona 1992 and London 2012. Paris 2024 will mark their fourth consecutive appearance, matching their streak from 1992 to 2004. The team qualified for Paris through the World Cup.
