Baldwin City – The Graceland University Women’s Volleyball team traveled south for the Baker Invitational.
vs. University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louis (20-25,23-25,21-25)
In the first match of the day, Graceland had the lead early until a tie at six points where the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy took over.University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy kept the lead throughout the first set ending in a 25-20 score.
From the beginning of the second set, the scores were close. The Yellowjackets kept close behind throughout but would take a loss, 25-23.
In the final set, Graceland pushed through and tried to hold on defensively to no prevail. Trailing behind during the set, Graceland started to close the set and ended up behind only a few points, 25-21.
In the match, Graceland hit .129 compared to the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy.158 attacking percentage.-¯-¯
vs. Columbia College (8-25,23-25,14-25)
Graceland’s first set against Columbia College was neck to neck as the lead switched from Graceland to Columbia College. Graceland tied three times before Columbia College took over the lead, ending at 8-25.
During the second set, Graceland trailed behind as they fought for points. As the set continued Graceland started to close the gap and tied twice towards the end. Ultimately Columbia stayed in the lead as the second set came to an end at 23-25.
In the final set, Graceland stayed only a few points behind Columbia, until halfway through when the Columbia started to pull ahead, ending in a devastating loss for the Yellowjackets, 14-25.
In the match, Graceland hit .050 compared to William woods at .304 attacking percentage.-¯
vs. William Woods University (21-25,6-25,19-21)
In the first set, Graceland played a close opening set with William Woods.The Yellowjackets were in the lead during the first half and were tied three timesbefore William Woods took over.-¯Ending the first set with 25-21 for William Woods.
In a more difficult match for the Yellowjackets, the set started in favor of William Woods. This lead continued until the end of the set where William Woods finished 25-6.
Graceland started to recover from the sets, with a tie on the 14th point during the third set, as well as a tie on the 16th point. From there William Wood took the lead and finished the game with a 24-20 score.
