LANCASTER, Pa. – It was a big United East Conference weekend here at Lancaster Bible College as three of the top teams in the conference standings went head-to-head. Gallaudet University split its two matches as the Bison defeated the Chargers, 3-1, but lost by the same score to SUNY Morrisville. The Mustangs (16-7, 4-0 United East) defeated Lancaster Bible in the final match of the day, 3-2, in the Horst Athletic Center.
Gallaudet (15-12, 3-1 United East) started the day against the Lancaster Bible Chargers (13-10, 2-2 United East) and rallied to win the last three sets 25-17, 25-16, 25-13 after the Bison dropped the first set, 23-25. Junior opposite Emily Wright (Penn Valley, Calif.) and sophomore Hannah Weiss (Riverside, Calif.) led the Bison with 14 kills each. Freshman outside hitter Citrine Lummer (Frederick, Md.) added eight kills, 18 digs and two block assists. Junior setter Emma Giuntoli (Austin, Texas) passed out 29 assists and served up two aces while junior libero Leila Sicoli (Austin, Texas) made a team-high 20 digs and career best nine aces.
LBC was paced by Chloe King’s 10-kill, six digs and one ace performance.
In the second match, Gallaudet and SUNY Morrisville traded set wins early on. The Mustangs took the first set, 20-25, before the Bison bounced back with a 25-23 second set win. SUNY Morrisville flexed its muscle in the final two sets; 14-25, 13-25, as GU made seven attack errors in the third and fourth sets. Lummer led the Bison with 10 kills, 12 digs and three aces. Giuntoli logged 17 assists and two aces while Sicoli made eight digs and one ace. Wright finished the match with eight kills, one block solo and two block assists to lead the Bison upfront.
SUNY Morrisville was led by Emily Huppee’s 23-kill performance as she completed the double-double with 14 digs and added three aces and two block assists.

- Sophomore Anya Pothorski (Indianapolis, Ind.) finished the day with two block solos, three block assists
- Junior Cassidy Perry (Frederick, Md.) made two block solos and three block assists
- Freshman Enza Visco (Riverside, Calif.) passed out 18 assists
UP NEXT
GU will head south to Fredericksburg, Va., on Tuesday, Oct. 18, for a non-conference match against University of Mary Washington (18-5) at 7 p.m.
