PHILADELPHIA – Temple volleyball’s Linda Hampton-Keith announced her first schedule as Owls’ head coach. The 2022 fall schedule, will include four weekend tournaments and 20 American Athletic Conference matches with 12 of their 31 matches played in McGonigle Hall.
“We are excited to announce our schedule for the 2022 season, said Hampton-Keith. “As we begin a new era for Temple Volleyball, we look forward to the opportunities to be challenged, compete and experience successful growth on and off the court.”
The Cherry and White will open the season at home in 2022 with a three-team tournament against Seton Hall and Delaware. The Owls will play a pair matches on Friday, Aug. 26 versus Seton Hall at noon, while turning around to play Delaware at 7 p.m. that night.
The Owls hit the road for the rest of the 2022 non-conference schedule, playing their next nine matches away from McGonigle Hall.
Starting on Sept. 2, Temple will play in the four-team weekend Army tournament. There, Hampton-Keith’s team will take on the Kansas Jayhawks on Sept. 2. The very next day, Temple will play the host Army, led by head coach and Temple graduate Alma Kovaci. TU finalizes the weekend versus Saint Francis later that evening.
The following weekend, Sept. 9/10, the Owls will again be on the road, remaining in New York at the Cornell Tournament. Temple will take on Albany on Sept. 9, and then play a pair of matches on Saturday, Sept. 10, versus Colgate and the host Cornell.
Temple will return to Philly on Sept. 16/17 but will play at Hutchinson Gymnasium at the Penn Tournament. The Owls will start the tournament off against Providence on Friday, Sept. 16. The Cherry and White will take on George Washington on Saturday, Sept. 17, and the host Quakers in the nightcap.
The Owls will begin AAC schedule on Sept. 23 and Sept. 25 in the midwest, starting with Wichita State on Sept. 23 and then battle Tulsa on Sept. 25.
After 11 matches on the road, the Cherry and White will return to McGonigle Hall at the end of September to play four straight home matches. The Owls begin that string on Friday, Sept. 30 hosting Tulane and on Friday, Oct. 2 the Houston Cougars will visit North Broad Street. The following week,…
