Sophomore field hockey forward/midfielder Hanna Corrigan (Barneveld/Holland Patent), junior women’s volleyball outside hitter Allie Sturgess (Stony Brook/Ward Melville) and sophomore football quarterback Zac Boyes (Buffalo/Kenmore West) have been chosen as the SUNY Cortland Athletes of the Week for the week ending Nov. 6.
Hanna was named the MVP of the SUNYAC Field Hockey Tournament after scoring once in each of Cortland’s two victories on the way to the league title. She scored Cortland’s first goal in a 2-1 win over Oneonta in the semifinals and the Red Dragons’ first goal in a 2-1 overtime win at Geneseo in the finals.
Allie was chosen as MVP of the SUNYAC Women’s Volleyball Tournament after leading Cortland to two wins for the title. She registered a career-high 17 kills in the semifinals versus Geneseo and eclipsed that mark with 21 kills, along with career highs of 23 digs and three blocks, in the finals vs. Brockport.
Zac completed 14-of-19 passes for 383 yards and four touchdowns in a 56-14 win over St. John Fisher. His TD passes covered 69, 13, 81 and 24 yards, and he threw a 59-yard pass on the game’s first play to set up a touchdown.
