LOS ANGELES–Riley Haine, a 6-5 outside hitter from Punahou School in Honolulu, Hawaii, and Trevor Powell, a 6-6 setter from Glenbard West High School in Glen Ellyn, Ill., have signed with the USC men’s volleyball team, Trojan head coach Jeff Nygaard announced today (May 27).
Haine, a three-year member of the varsity volleyball team, recently helped Punahou win its ninth-straight Hawaii state championship in the spring of 2022. While playing for Spike and Serve Volleyball Club, he helped his team win the gold medal in the 17 Open at the 2021 Junior National Championships and earned placement on the All-Tournament team. In 2021, Haine was invited to train with the USA Beach Volleyball National Training Development Program. He also participated in the 2020 fall training session with the USA Volleyball National Training Development Program.
Powell, a three-year varsity member for Glenbard West High School, helped his team place third in the Illinois state championship in 2021. He was selected as a team captain for his senior season in 2022. While competing for Sports Performance Volleyball Club, he helped his team earn fifth place in the 18 Open at the 2021 Junior National Championships. After placing second in the 15 Open at the 2019 Junior National Championships and being selected to the All-Tournament team, Powell was named a 2019 VolleyballMag.com All-American. He was selected to participate in the 2021 USA Volleyball National Team Development Program, the 2020 High Performance Continental team, and the 2019 Holiday Training Program.
Haine and Powell will arrive in the fall of 2022 ready to contribute to the USC men’s volleyball program.
