Home Opener, 50th Anniversary Celebration Next Week in Mullett

TEMPE – To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Sun Devil Volleyball, the first two home games on September 21 against Arizona and September 24 against Washington will be held in Mullett Arena, with the latter match inviting former volleyball student-athletes to attend to honor the anniversary.

After four-straight weekends on the road to start the 2023 season, the Sun Devils will be itching to be in Tempe and play in front of the home crowd. The squad is currently 9-0 on the year, the fourth-best start in program history and the best since 2015.

The home opener against in-state rival Arizona on September 21 will be the first ever volleyball match in Mullett Arena, which opened in fall of 2022. Last season, the Sun Devils and the Wildcats split the regular season, with both teams winning on the road. The teams are 4-4 in the last eight matches.

On Sunday, September 24, the match against Washington will see numerous 50th-anniversary celebrations, including welcoming the alumni that are present.

The 50th anniversary celebration for alumni in town next weekend will also feature a lunch on September 23 and an outing to the Sun Devil Football game against USC that night. For any alumni interested in attending, please visit the Sun Devil Volleyball Reunion webpage for the most up-to-date information and a link to register.

Fans can purchase tickets here. These two matches are the first of five total home matches held in Mullett Arena this season. UCLA, Stanford and Colorado will also be hosted in that arena. The remaining five matches will be in Desert Financial Arena.
