STANFORD, Calif. – In front of a record crowd of 6,894 at Maples Pavilion, No. 2 Stanford swept No. 6 Texas, 25-16, 25-21, 25-22, in its home opener on Sunday.
Stanford (7-0) hit .340 while holding Texas (3-3) to a .125 clip. It marks the best start to a season for the Cardinal since 2014, when it went 28-0 before dropping a match.
Setter Kami Minder dished out 35 assists and posted 10 digs for her sixth consecutive double-double. The senior also recorded three kills, two aces and two blocks. Libero Elena Oglivie anchored the defense with 10 digs, four assists and two aces.
Outside hitter Elia Rubin led the team with 12 kills on .310 hitting, six digs and a block. Opposite Jordyn Harvey added 10 kills on a .400 attack percentage, two blocks and a dig.
Middle blocker Sami Francis hit .429 with seven kills, including five in the first set, and tied for a match-high with five blocks. Redshirt freshman Ipar Kurt chipped in with seven kills, a dig and a block, while middle blocker Lizzy Andrew had five kills on eight errorless swings to hit .625.
Senior defensive specialist Taylor Beaven matched her season-high with six digs to with an assist, while junior Anna Pringle tallied two digs and an assist. Freshman Taylor Yu came off the bench as a serving sub and had an ace in the third set.
Texas was led by outside hitter Madisen Skinner, who totaled 12 kills, seven digs and two blocks. Libero Emma Halter racked up 11 digs and an ace. The Cardinal improves to 23-10 all-time against the Longhorns.
Up next, Stanford travels to Lincoln, Nebraska to take on No. 5 Nebraska on Wednesday. First serve is slated for 5 p.m. PT on Big Ten Network.
