HOSTS NEPAL END INDIA’S WINNING STREAK IN CAVA WOMEN’S NATIONS LEAGUE

Kathmandu, Nepal, August 3, 2024 — The third day of the CAVA Women’s Nations League witnessed an intense showdown as hosts Nepal broke India’s winning streak with an epic tie-break win 25-18, 12-25, 25-17, 18-25, 15-13.

In the other match of the day, Iran secured a straight-set win over Maldives with scores of 25-21, 25-20, 25-16.

Despite the narrow defeat to Nepal, India remained atop of the leaderboard with seven points. Iran and Nepal are close behind with five points each, setting the stage for a crucial match on Sunday to determine which team will gain the upper hand. Sri Lanka and Maldives are currently the lower-ranked teams, with one point and no points, respectively.

The match between Nepal and India was graced by several distinguished guests, including honorable Mr. Teju Lal Chaudhary, Minister of Youth and Sports, honorable Manbir Rai, Defence Minister, Mr. Tanka Lal Ghising, Member Secretary of National Sports Council, Parliamentarians including Mr. Lil Bahadur Thapa Magar and Mr. Bishal Bhattari, Former Ministers Anuradha Koirala and Ram Kumari Jhakri, Members of the National Sports Council and high officials of the Nepal Army. 

 

On Sunday, Nepal will face Iran at 5:15pm local time, while Sri Lanka will battle it out with Maldives at 3:00pm.
